The Role

Are you looking for safe, stable work with a company that treats you well? Do you like being handed a job, left alone to get it done, and being proud of what you turned out? Do you like the quiet of grave shift and not fighting traffic? Would you like the chance to move up through paid career development?

Then it's probably time you talked to NW Navigator.

This is the grave-shift washer and detailer role at our Portland operation. Every coach that leaves this yard in the morning goes out spotless, and that is this job. Extreme Triple Clean — our layered cleaning, sanitizing and protection standard — is applied to every vehicle before every trip, and you're the person applying it. When a group boards at six in the morning and quietly assumes they're the first people ever to ride that motorcoach, you're the reason.

The Pay

$20.00 an hour, on a fixed Monday-to-Friday schedule — forty hours a week, every week. There's paid career development here too: this is a role people move up out of, and we'd rather train someone than replace them.

What Your Week Looks Like

Five nights a week, the same hours every night. No rotating shifts, no being called in on a Saturday.

Days
Monday through Friday
Hours
8:00PM to 4:00AM
Shift
Grave shift, overnight; there's no travel in this role
Location
Our Portland operation, 13940 N Rivergate Blvd

The site isn't served by public transit at these hours, so you'll need your own reliable transportation to get in and out.

The Equipment

You'd be caring for the whole Portland fleet: full-size Prevost coaches seating up to 56, 27- and 34-passenger mini coaches, and 14-passenger Sprinter vans. Reclining seats, onboard restrooms, Wi-Fi, A/V, luggage bays — all of it comes back needing attention, and all of it goes back out ready for a Fortune 500 client, an NCAA team or a wedding party.

Brooms, mops, vacuums, dusters, carpet cleaners and a wash bay. You'll work alongside a DOT- and FMCSA-certified full-service maintenance facility on the same site, which is who you hand a problem to when you find one.

What You Need To Apply

  • High school diploma or GED, or higher
  • At least one year of cleaning or detailing experience in any capacity — janitorial, housekeeping, car wash, it all counts
  • A reliable work history. If we're going to invest time and money in you, we'd like some evidence you'll still be here in a year. All jobs can be a little tough — that's why they call it "work"
  • Able to lift 45 pounds regularly, and to walk, bend, climb vehicle steps, stretch and twist for most of a shift
  • Reliable transportation for a night shift, since this site isn't on public transit at these hours
  • Able to pass a post-offer drug screen (includes marijuana) and a criminal background check

What Makes a Candidate Stand Out

None of the above is on a checklist, and all of it is why we hire one detailer over another.

  • Your attention to detail is the kind that leads passengers to believe they're the first people ever to ride in a brand new motorcoach
  • Brooms, mops, vacuums, dusters and carpet cleaners are your weapons of choice
  • You feel an overwhelming urge to go through the car wash every time you drive past one
  • The idea of not cleaning a bathroom at least a few times a week drives you nuts
  • You feel obligated to report anything that looks damaged or isn't right, rather than leaving it for someone else to find
  • You keep a positive attitude, you're a team player, and you take guidance and constructive criticism openly
  • You can't wait to get to work and make the fleet sparkle

What Comes With It

This is a full-time role, and it comes with the full-time benefits every Navigator gets — not a reduced package because the shift runs at night.

  • Paid time off, covering vacation and sick time in one bank
  • Paid holidays
  • Retirement savings, with a company contribution
  • An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) — company money toward a health plan you pick yourself
  • A Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Paid career development, and a real path up out of this role

About NW Navigator

NW Navigator Luxury Coaches has carried discerning groups across Oregon and Washington since 2008 — nearly two decades — and has grown every year since, adding a second full operation in Bend. In 2025 we made the Inc. 5000 on 91% revenue growth over three years. We hold the FMCSA's top safety rating, we were the first motorcoach company on the West Coast to earn Green Certification, and we belong to the International Motorcoach Group, the American Bus Association and the United Motorcoach Association. Fortune 500 companies, NCAA programs, school districts and tour operators book this fleet.

A coach only looks award-winning because somebody made it look that way the night before. That's the role.
