Motorcoach Operator

The Role
NW Navigator Luxury Coaches is looking for outstanding Motorcoach Operators to carry clients out of our Portland operation by luxury motorcoach and shuttle — around the Portland metro, and across eleven western states and Canada. The destinations are genuinely interesting, and the job asks for two things in equal measure: safe driving, and a professional, easy way with people.
You should love working with all kinds of groups, hold at least a Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement, and have a spotless driving record.
The Pay
Operators have the potential to earn up to $600 a day, yard to yard — the highest paid motorcoach wages in Oregon, plus gratuities. Tips on this work are exceptional. On a full day, that works out to roughly $27–$32 an hour.
Ask us about the full compensation plan when you apply.
We're also filling part-time seats with considerable flexibility in scheduling — say so in your application if that's what you're looking for.
What Your Week Looks Like
Full-time, on a varying schedule with regular overnight travel. This is the seat that travels: the Portland metro one week, somewhere well out across the western states the next. If you want the road, this is the job that has it.
The Equipment
Full-size Prevost coaches seating up to 56, 27- and 34-passenger mini coaches, and 14-passenger Sprinter vans — reclining seats, onboard restrooms, Wi-Fi, A/V, seat belts at every seat, wheelchair lifts. Every vehicle is held to a documented preventative maintenance schedule, and technicians are on call 24/7 if something goes wrong while you're out.
What You Need To Apply
- High school diploma or GED, or higher
- Valid CDL, Class B or higher, with a passenger endorsement, and a current medical card
- A gift for gab — you like engaging people from all over the world in conversation
- A clean driving record — no pattern of collisions, and you keep to the speed limit
- Comfortable moving luggage weighing 45–75 pounds in and out of the bay, moving up and down steep steps and narrow aisles, and equally at home sitting for hours behind the wheel
- Two years driving large commercial vehicles — motorcoach, school bus, or over-the-road trucking all count (captained a NASA rocket or the Space Shuttle instead? We'd be thrilled to hear about it)
- Able to pass a post-offer drug screen (includes marijuana, random screening as required — a DOT rule) and background check
What Makes a Candidate Stand Out
None of the above is on a checklist, and all of it is why we hire one operator over another.
- You show up, every shift, on time
- You're clean, tidy, and professional
- You take care of the equipment, and you're patient with passengers — this isn't WWE SmackDown or bumper cars
- You follow DOT, FMCSA, and company rules as a matter of course
What Comes With It
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Health savings account
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Referral program
- Retirement plan
